It is with a heavy heart that we share somber news for the hockey community this Sunday. The Boston Bruins Alumni have announced the passing of Gilles Gilbert, a seasoned NHL goaltender who reached the age of 74.
Gilbert embarked on his NHL journey during the 1969-70 season, representing the colours of the Minnesota North Stars. Over the next four seasons, he made a significant impact for the team before transitioning to the Boston Bruins, where he would dedicate the next seven seasons. The final chapter of his illustrious career saw him donning the jersey of the Detroit Red Wings for three seasons.
In his remarkable 416-game NHL career, Gilbert secured 192 victories, faced 143 losses, experienced 60 ties, and maintained a goals-against average of 3.27. His save percentage stood at .872, and he celebrated 18 shutouts.
