When you buy tickets to any NHL game, for the most part, the expectation is to have full view of the action on the ice. Arenas are built that way for the fan experience. In Utah however, fans have been seeing a restricted view based on where they are sitting in the arena.
The Delta Center is known as the home of the Utah Jazz in the NBA. Over the course of time, there have been a bunch of updates to the arena in order to accommodate a hockey club.
The arena has listed 10,000 seats with full view of the ice. In addition, they list 6,000 seats to be considered "partial ice view" and are sold at a lower price. These seats seem to be located in the upper bowl of the arena, and view of the goal net and any play around or behind that net would be obstructed from view.
The Utah Hockey Club shows that the lower bowl had to be reduced to fit the ice in the arena, pushing back the bleacher seats that would be behind the nets, or courtside behind the basketball nets for an NBA game.
Fans seem to still be very excited to host NHL games, as the pre-season game had a playoff atmosphere.
There still seems to be some work that will need to be done to try to have less partial view seating in the arena. But if you are in Utah, you are just happy to have an NHL team to watch in person.
