Andersson seems too good to be true for the Oilers, a steady, reliable force on the blueline who is no slouch offensively. The most intriguing part for the Oilers is his cap hit, as he will be making $4.5 million for the next 2 seasons before becoming a UFA. Andersson also shoots right, a massive need for the Oilers who desperately need some help on the right side.
The only issue would be the trade, as the Oilers used a lot of assets at last years deadline, and the Flames are most likely not keen on trading one of their best players to their provincial rivals. Andersson would be a great fit in Oil Country however and the Oilers might do whatever they can to acquire such a valuable asset ahead of next season.
Although Stauffer's trade proposal is a strong one, it still may not be enough to entice the Flames to trade Andersson to their biggest rival. The market for Andersson could be much larger than anticipated due to Calgary's status as a rebuilder.
