It's not every day you see a goaltender get into a physical battle with a player, but that is what happened between Igor Shesterkin and Sidney Crosby last night during the Penguins versus Rangers game.

When you think of Igor Shesterkin or Sidney Crosby, you don't think of two guys who are very physical players. One of those guys is even a goaltender, a position that is almost never involved in a physical altercation. However, something got into Shesterkin last night, as he and Sidney Crosby got into a physical battle behind the net during the Rangers versus Penguins game.
Igor Shesterkin gets into it with Sidney Crosby 😳
When you watch the play, Shesterkin causes a lot of issues because he decides to interfere with Crosby in order to give his defenseman more time to clear the puck out. As he is getting his body in the way, Crosby gets a little loose with his stickwork and gives Shesterkin one on the arm. This makes Shesterkin do a double take and re-engage with Crosby.
Surprisingly, that is where it ended between the two. Normally, you'd expect a Rangers defenseman or forward to come to Shesterkin's aid, however, given the fact that it was Sidney Crosby on the other side of it, they were probably deterred from rushing in there.
