Michael Bunting has been a much talked about Toronto Maple Leaf since 2021. With 112 points in his last two seasons as a Maple Leaf, he's been a steal at just $950,000 per year. But with his contract ending this year, there's no doubt it will cost a lot more to retain his services for next season.

While he has a clear offensive upside, it comes with a cost. According to James Mirtle of The Athletic, Bunting's attitude has clashed with coach Sheldon Keefe all year.
«Sheldon Keefe has tried to reach Michael Bunting on a coaching level all season, but hasn't gotten through.»

Viewers at home got a glimpse of his sometimes explosive temper when Bunting hit Tampa Bay Lighting defenceman Erik Černák in the head, resulting in a 3 game suspension.
Signing Bunting to a long term deal will undoubtedly be a risk for any team, and with Toronto currently having $0 in cap space, it might be a risk they can't take
