Nick Robertson's journey with the Toronto Maple Leafs has been anything but smooth.

Drafted in the second round of the NHL draft in 2019, Robertson's development has seen its fair share of ups and downs. From progressing perhaps too quickly, dealing with multiple long-term injuries, and inconsistent ice time, the 22-year-old has faced many challenges.
Sources say that RFA Nick Robertson has no plans to re-sign with the #leafs this summer and has informed the team that he would like to be traded.
Despite these hurdles, Robertson's stats look decent on paper, boasting 14 goals and 27 points in 56 games. However, his performance has been streaky, with most of his production coming in short bursts before going cold for long stretches.
Nick Robertson is nowhere near a perfect player, but I think people are overplaying how disappointing he's been. His minutes have come in careful usage, but he's scored at a really impressive rate over the last couple years. There's a real player here, at least IMO.
Recently, there's been talk of the restricted free agent requesting a trade, but it seems the Leafs aren't prioritizing it. GM Brad Treliving made it clear that they see Robertson as a valuable asset.
Brad Treliving on Nick Robertson's trade request: "We look at Nick as an excellent player, and there's great opportunity for Nick here, and we need him to be a good player for us.
