This former NHLer just stirred the pot on social media making another post on the Leafs' playing their top powerplay in the final minutes of a blowout game.
Leafs Still Getting Flack For Putting Out Top Powerplay in Final Minutes of Flyers Game
The Toronto Maple Leafs got some criticism a few days ago when they put out their top powerplay in the final minutes of a blowout game against the Philadelphia Flyers. The criticism stemmed from the Flyers assistant coach chirping at the Leafs' bench. After the game, Sheldon Keefe noted that it wasn't his intention to play the top unit.
Now, former NHLer Aaron Ward has taken to social media to continue to stir the pot on the issue.
"Just FYI. @Canes up 7-2 on @Senators with 3 mins left, get a power play, and Brind'amour sends out the 4th line first. I'll just leave that there. Talk amongst yourselves."
Keefe Apologized to Flyers Coaching Staff For Playing Top Powerplay
Obviously, the story has been blown out of proportion by the media. Sheldon Keefe noted after the game in his interview that he didn't mean to have those guys out there and that the rest of his bench was gassed from a previous shift. He even noted that he apologized to the Flyers coaching staff for doing so.
The unwritten rules of hockey are especially under the microscope when it comes to the Leafs, probably because of what happened between Morgan Rielly and the Ottawa Senators just a few games back.
