The Toronto Maple Leafs officially hired Lane Lambert as their new assistant coach.

After weeks of rumours, it was finally confirmed that Lambert will join the Leafs and become Craig Berube's assistant coach.
Chris Johnston shared the news on X:
"The #leafs have officially named Lane Lambert as associate coach on Craig Berube's staff, while announcing that assistant coach Dean Chynoweth won't return next season."
Since 2011, Lambert has been working behind NHL benches. He worked with the Nashville Predators, Washington Capitals and New York Islanders. For his whole coaching career, he remined assistant coach, and less than two years after being named head coach of the Islanders, was fired and replaced by the four times Stanley Cup champion Patrick Roy.
Lambert and Berube have been coaching opposing teams for years, but they've also played against each other between 1986 and 1989. Berube was starting his NHL career with the Flyers. As for Lambert, he had just joined the New York Rangers for a short stint before playing his final three seasons with the Quebec Nordiques.
Leafs fans hope to see their combined experience be enough to finally bring a Stanley Cup back to Toronto.
