The Toronto Maple Leafs lost again in a Game 7 at TD Garden. For the fourth time in 11 years, the Bruins took this finale dramatically, winning it 2-1 overtime. Yet everyone is talking about that controversial play that could've been icing.

The game-deciding moment was gut-wrenching for Leafs nation. Hampus Lindholm sent the puck down the ice, and it seemed like it should've been called icing, but the officials missed it. Sometimes, in hockey, those little inches make all the difference. Unfortunately for the Leafs, David Pastrnak seized the opportunity and pulled off an incredible move to score on Ilya Samsonov.
Toronto was down 3-1 at one point, dealt with injuries to Auston Matthews and William Nylander, and had Joseph Woll step up big time in net for Games 5 and 6, but was injured and couldn't play in Game 7.
Despite all the adversity, the Leafs gave it everything they had in Game 7. There's no shame in their performance, even if it doesn't ease the heartbreak right now. Changes might be on the horizon for Toronto this summer, with captain John Tavares on the final year of his contract in 2024-25, making $11 million, and Marner who makes $20.9 million. Yet for now, it's a tough pill to swallow for Leafs fans.
