A new statistic places the Maple Leafs' forward Max Domi among the NHL's elite for the number of 5-on-5 assists!
One of Brad Treliving's first move as the Maple Leafs' general manager was the aquisition of Max Domi. All season long, his performances were underwhelming, scoring only eight goals this year. However, he shines in another category. Despite getting limited time on the ice, he has an impressive 31-assists tally.

Max Domi's start of the season with the Maple Leafs had fans worried. He needed to turn things around and that's what he did.
He's now in an elite list of players for 5-on-5 assists. Last night, Domi played on the first line, with Matthews, and tallied four assists.
Only Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Nikita Kucherov, Leon Draisaitl, Quinn Hughes and Tim Stutzle have more 5v5 assists than Domi.

Sheldon Keefe will certainly consider increasing Domi's time on the ice. With his recent success and Marner's lingering injury, he stepped up his game, which shows that Brad Treliving made the right decision by getting him last summer. As Marner continues to recover from his high-ankle sprain, we'll see how it'll impact the way Sheldon Keefe uses Domi on the ice.
