The Toronto Maple Leafs have managed to force a game seven against the Boston Bruins with a struggling powerplay, and Sheldon Keefe has now addressed it.
After struggling to a 1-3 mark early in this series, the Toronto Maple Leafs have won back-to-back games by a score of 2-1 to force a game seven in Boston. Their success has come with the change in net to Joseph Woll, but there's still very worrying signs, especially on the powerplay, as they've netted just one goal in 20 attempts this series.
Now, Head Coach Sheldon Keefe has addressed those struggles, remaining confident despite the Leafs lack of production in that area;
Leafs staying course with 1/20 power play?
Sheldon Keefe: "We're not going to decline the power play, no"
Coach says they've changed a lot on PP through series
Notes some of it is about execution, which led to more focus on it
There's been so many talking points this series, and the last two wins have helped gloss over their struggles, but with a potential return of Auston Matthews on the way, we could see a big shift moving forward.
Ultimately though, this is a team with major momentum behind them, and if they can funnel that momentum and confidence into the powerplay, they've got a shot to win game 7, but unless they fix the issues, it will be tough for them to move on beyond the second round.
