NHL insider Chris Johnston is now reporting that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson has requested a trade from the team.

The 22-year-old has played in 87 career NHL games, all with the Maple Leafs. He has 17 goals and 34 points, 27 of which came this season.
Sources say that RFA Nick Robertson has no plans to re-sign with the #leafs this summer and has informed the team that he would like to be traded.
The Leafs drafted Robertson in the 2nd round, 53rd overall back in 2019. Since then he has struggled to become a regular in the team's lineup, despite clearly having NHL level talent. Many Leafs fans have taken to blaming former head coach Sheldon Keefe for not giving him a chance in a larger role.
That's what you get when you hire a coach who doesn't know how to work with players outside of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander, John Tavares and Morgan Rielly.
The Leafs did issue Robertson a qualifying offer, so they will retain his rights. As such, they should still be able to get something in return for him.
The @MapleLeafs have extended qualifying offers to Nick Robertson, Alex Steeves, Conor Dewar and Timothy Liljegren.

The club did not extend a qualifying offer to Noah Gregor.
We will just have to see where he gets moved to. Could he join his brother in Dallas? Or will he go to a team with more opportunities up front? Be sure to stay tuned to find out.
