Today a new report has come in confirming that the Toronto Maple Leafs and Brad Treliving have signed yet another defenseman agreeing to a contract with Dakota Mermis.

The Toronto Maple Leafs wanted to upgrade their defensive unit this offseason and have made it a priority. After big signings like Chris Tanev the Maple Leafs have now made a depth move as well signing Dakota Mermis.
It appears that 30-year-old free agent defenceman Dakota Mermis is joining the Leafs.

He's now listed on their active roster.

Mermis averaged 14 minutes in 47 games for the Wild last season.

During his NHL career, Dakota Mermis has 74 NHL games and over 400 AHL games with the New Jersey Devils, Minnesota Wild, and Arizona Coyotes organizations. Last season Dakota Mermis spent 47 games in the Minnesota Wild lineup and amassed 8 points.
He will now compete for a spot in the lineup for the Toronto Maple Leafs. If he fails to crack the lineup he becomes good depth for the Maple Leafs or veteran leadership for the Toronto Marlies.
