The Toronto Maple Leafs have some major free agent decisions upcoming, but according to a report, they may not be the favourite to bring back a beloved forward.

Despite the season ending in disappointment, there was plenty of positives for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2023-24, with the emergence of veteran forward Tyler Bertuzzi one of those. For the majority of the season, Bertuzzi played alongside superstar Auston Matthews as he tallied an impressive 69 goals, and it's this ability to play on the top line that may cause him to look elsewhere in free agency.
In Pierre LeBrun's latest article, he quotes Bertuzzi's agent Todd Reynolds, who revealed that Bertuzzi may still look to go to market on July 1st, even if there's plenty of mutual interest to return to the Maple Leafs;
"It's early, but it's out there that the Leafs want to re-sign him. We'll see what happens here. He's been a top player on the last three teams he's played with. He's played on the first line with the best players on each of his last three teams. So he would be coveted on the open market. But whether he gets to market or not, time will tell."

Despite this potential posturing from Bertuzzi's agent, both he and Max Domi are beloved in Toronto, and if possible, the fans would love to have them both back for the 2024-25 season.
Reportedly, they are both looking to land contracts between $5 and $6 million per year, but with the core four potentially being broken up, these deals could make sense to help this team chase the ultimate goal of a Stanley Cup.
