The NHL has just been called out online for an embarrassing scheduling mistake that shows just how little they care about growing the game.
NHL Drops the Ball on Open Night Without NFL, MLB, or NBA Games
The NHL is actively trying to grow into new markets across the United States and Canada, however, it is often tasked with going against massive fandoms of the NFL, MLB, and NBA. However, they clearly dropped the ball tonight.

NHL Needs To Step Into This Pause in Major Sports Scheduling
The NHL has a long season, and because of that, they have a ton of overlap with all the major sports and TV schedules. That means they should be taking advantage of this time in February when they only have to really compete with the NBA. Clearly, Gary Bettman and the NHL dropped the ball massively on this.
The NHL has a long way to go if it wants to be considered the best professional sports league in North America.
