Things didn't go so well for Jonathan Huberdeau last year. With a 115-point season in 2021-22, he was surprisingly traded and scored just 55 points with the Flames.
That's quite a contrast, when we're talking about less than half the points of the previous year, for the same number of games played. Certainly, the shock of the trade and the drastic change of playing under Darryl Sutter played a role in that, but according to Jonathan, there's more to it than that.
"I just didn't have any fun last year. For the first time in my career, I lost the passion for coming to the arena. The way I was playing on the ice, it just wasn't me."
- Jonathan Huberdeau
We knew the deal had come as a shock to him, but we had no idea it was this bad.
Nevertheless, Huberdeau wants to learn from this season and come back strong as a leader this year. He's got the talent to succeed and he'll be looking to turn his fortunes around with the Flames.
