Today NHL Free Agency is set to begin at Noon and the New Jersey have already made a big swing signing defenseman Brett Pesce to a long-term deal.
Reports are coming in that the New Jersey Devils have agreed to a six-year contract with former Carolina Hurricanes Brett Pesce just before free agency officially opens.
When Brett Pesce's free-agent deal is finalized with #NJDevils, it's expected to come in at six years with an AAV in the $5.5M range.
Heading into the offseason there was expected to be stiff competition to land Brett Pesce. The Toronto Maple Leafs were one of the teams potentially interested. Now he heads to the New Jersey Devils who have completely reshaped their defensive unit already this summer.
With Brett Pesce off the board the Toronto Maple Leafs will need to find a new target to go after to fill the hole in the lineup. Free Agency officially begins at Noon where we could see big moves made by the Maple Leafs.
