Reports emerged yesterday that Pavel Francouz may be forced to retire due to injury, and now his General Manager has had his say.

That was one of the biggest moments in the career of the 33-year old, a career that could now potentially be over. On Monday, reports emerged that Pavel Francouz's career may be over due to the injury that has kept him out of action for all of the 2023-24 NHL season.
Now, General Manager Chris MacFarland has backed up those reports, revealing in a new interview that Francouz is unlikely to ever play again in the NHL.
"Chris MacFarland described Pavel Francouz's situation as akin to retirement based on the nature/timing of his injury. Said he's not currently planning to ramp up to return to play."
This is an incredibly tough break for a talented veteran that came in and did his job on the biggest stages for the Avalanche, and one that will be remembered for a long time to come. Despite all the talent, Francouz ended up playing just 73 games in the NHL, tallying a 44-21-6 record over that time with a 2.49 GAA and a .919 save percentage, so we hope something can change and he can make his way back onto the ice in some capacity.
