The whispers around the Columbus Blue Jackets and their starting goaltender have grown louder in recent times, and now, the inevitable has finally become official.
After five seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets, the 29-year old goaltender has simply had enough, and even after taking down the Vancouver Canucks, he has made his official trade request known.
This comes on the back of a solid season in which Merzelikins has posted a 3.22 GAA and a .906 save percentage, and with the future their focus now, this is likely a trade request that the team are happy to grant.
With four more years on his deal at a $5.4 million AAV, the trade won't exactly be easy, but if the team are motivated and want to get future assets back, it's a deal that both parties will look to get done very quickly.
