Columbus Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell slips up in an interview, potentially reveals a Patrick Laine trade partner.

While speaking about his tenure in Carolina as the GM and his replacements, Don Waddell was asked about the Hurricanes new GM, Eric Tulsky. While Waddell did praise Tulsky as the right person to take over the job, he also let slip that a potential trade between the two teams is in the works.
Waddell also endorsed Tulsky, who took over as general manager.

"Eric's the brains," Waddell said. "He's way smarter than I'll ever dream about being. ... I have no doubt he'll do a great job. We're trying to make a trade right now, so...»

Two names come to mind when trade rumours circle between these teams: Patrick Laine and Martin Necas, who have both been the center of a plethora of trade rumours for quite some time now.
At this current point in time, Necas has much more value than Laine, as Laine spent a majority of the 23-24 season out of the lineup due to a multitude of reasons, so Columbus would most likely have to give up more than just Laine to get Necas.
Right now, all fans can do is speculate, as the Carolina Hurricanes is most definitely not the first team that Patrick Laine has been linked to, but perhaps it will be the last.
