The NHL continues to grow, and with their player base expanding with more and more talented young players, we continue to see veteran names head overseas for continued opportunities on the ice.
Now, that's exactly what has happened with former Canadiens and Maple Leafs defenseman Jordie Benn, who has now inked a new contract with Brynäs IF, a Swedish hockey team.
The 607 game veteran of the NHL last played for the Maple Leafs in 2022-23, but was less effective than we'd seen in recent years, and now, he looks to ignite his career overseas.
In those 607 games, Benn tallied 26 goals and 137 points, and at 36-years old, this may signal the end of his NHL career, but if he can stay healthy and get consistent playing time, this could also reignite his career.
