The NHL season is alive and well and last night two of the league's biggest rivals faced off. The game reached a fever pitch that led to a brawl to end things.
Brawl Breaks Out Between Division Rivals
At the end of a blowout game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals tensions were high. After a blocked shot from Noel Acciari, a brawl broke out.
A clearly frustrated Tom Wilson decided to shove Marcus Pettersson away from the play. Shoves eventually turned to punches and a full-on fight.

The rivals are off to a hot start toward a new chapter in their story. The Capitals had ratcheted up the physical play all night including superstar Alex Ovechkin who laid out defenseman Erik Karlsson earlier in the game.
Penguins Prevail Despite Physical Attacks By The Capitals
Despite the physical style of play by the Washington Capitals the Pittsburgh Penguins pushed through and put the effort where things truly count. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin showed up and both had multi-point games.
Erik Karlsson despite getting crushed by Alex Ovechkin still had a point and was a plus-one by the end of the game. Karlsson has fit in seamlessly with the Penguins since being acquired this offseason.
As the season chugs along it will be interesting to see how Karlsson gels and if he can keep up his scoring production from last season.
