NHL officiating has been a subject of hot debate for many years now. Last night we saw a highly questionable play as one referee appeared to start making a penalty call, but then changed his mind.

Referee Ignores Penalty Drawn By McDavid Against Kraken Player

It seems as though the call was going to go against Kraken defenseman Ryker Evans. The official started to raise his arm as the blueliner hounded McDavid behind his own net but then he immediately put his arm back down as he was raising it.
The ref was about to raise his arm for a holding penalty on McDavid but then just decided 'nahhhh'
Evans can be seen clearly holding onto McDavid in the clip and the players were even face-to-face with the referee. One must wonder why he decided not to make the call after he clearly saw it. On fan suggested that McDavid had already drawn two penalties in the game so the referee likely didn't want to give him another one.
"He drew 2 already - so it's against league rules for us to call anything else"
These are the exact kinds of situations that make fans think NHL referees have their own agendas in game. Hopefully the league will take some kind of action as to hold their officials more accountable in the future. Everyone knows the fans are tired of the current iteration of NHL officiating.
