The Edmonton Oilers are in the midst of what they hope will be a deep Stanley Cup run, but once more, the conversation has switched to the future of Leon Draisiatl.

Despite having two of the top names in the NHL, the Edmonton Oilers are yet to reach a Stanley Cup Final in the Connor McDavid era, and with the contracts of both he and Draisaitl coming up soon, the discussion about their futures continues. On BPM Sports, the duo of Stèphane Gonzalez and former Edmonton Oilers Georges Laraque got to talking about Draisaitl, with Laraque offering this blockbuster prediction;
"He wants to be the top center on a team [...] The team's fate this year will determine what happens with him," said Georges Laraque.

According to Laraque, sources within the organization have indicated to him that Draisaitl doesn't intend to sign an extension, with the former NHLer predicting that he will look to land with the Boston Bruins. Not only do Boston have a winning culture, but they have the major need of a top centre to play alongside the talented core of Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak.
Obviously, a lot can happen between now and Draisaitl's free agency class of 2025, with the likes of Sidney Crosby, Mikko Rantanen and Mitch Marner all headlining that class, but unless the Oilers can get over the bump and win a Stanley Cup between now and then, it appears he's on his way out.
