The Toronto Maple Leafs have been attached to so many players over the years, and now. yet another one has become a trade candidate ahead of next season.

The past week has been a wild ride in the NHL, with the biggest story of all being the offer sheets given to Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway of the Edmonton Oilers, with the move from the St. Louis Blues potentially shaking up the defending Western Conference Champions. Now, the team are scrambling to make a decision on two key stars of the future, and it's reportedly forcing them to seek trade partners for two veterans.
After bouncing around the league for three straight years, Cody Ceci was handed a lifeline by the Edmonton Oilers, and eventually wound up with a deal that paid him a $3.25 salary per season, and now the team are desperate to move the former Maple Leafs blue liner to cover the offer sheet money. At this point, it's been unclear if anyone around the league is willing to take on Ceci's deal for cheap, with reports revealing that teams are looking for a first or second round deal to take on the final year of the 30-year old's contract.
Despite posting a +12 differential in 2024/25, Ceci was almost unplayable at times for the Oilers, and now the team need to move him to give themselves flexibility, and they're running out of time, so this should be a very intriguing storyline to watch as training camp approaches.
