NHL hands out punishment to Oilers Sam Carrick for his slash on Dmitry Kulikov

Last night in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Carrick delivered a nasty slash to Florida Panthers Dmitry Kulikov and today he has been punished for it.

Sam Carrick was one of the many players at the center of last night's storyline for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. His name was talked about due to a slash he delivered to Dmitry Kulikov after a big hit given out by Kulikov.

The slash between the legs warranted a suspension according to many fans. With the high stakes of the games ahead everyone waited to hear what Sam Carrick's ultimate punishment would be. In the end reports are indicating he will only face a hefty fine and no suspension.
Edmonton's Sam Carrick has been fined $2,213.54, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for slashing Florida's Dmitry Kulikov.
Furthermore, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has confirmed this will be the only discipline handed down as a result of incidents from Game 2.
This is going to be the only supplemental discipline from Game 2
This means the big hit by Leon Draisaitl that injured Aleksander Barkov will not be disciplined with a fine or a suspension. Now both teams can go forward knowing their situation and preparing for Game 3 on Wednesday. The Edmonton Oilers are entering must win territory but will do so at full strength.
