Shocking firing of player agent by Edmonton Oilers superstar

Skinner's new agent Ray Petkau just released a post on his social media page that he would now be representing the superstar goalie of the Oilers. There are only two years remaining on Skinner's contract before he hits the free agency market as an unrestricted free agent (UFA), and he is definitely going to be getting a huge pay increase, as he is only receiving $2.6 million annually now.

Many superstar goalies around the league use the services of Petkau. Those goalies are Connor Hellebuyck, Laurent Brossoit, James Reimer, and Eric Comrie. An issue with J.P. Barry that likely turned Skinner off is that he does not represent any goalies, so Skinner likely felt like the odd one out. Some notable client's of Barry are Matthew Barzal and David Pastrnak.

Stan Bowman was recently hired by the Oilers to be their new GM, and he will have a ton of work to do, as there are a bunch of big name players on the Oilers who will require contract extensions, such as Leon Draisaitl, Evan Bouchard, and the one and only Connor McDavid. The Oilers are currently slightly over the cap and will need to get under it by the time the season starts. Bowman will need to put his hard hat on and dispose of the mess left by former GM Ken Holland.

Stuart Skinner had a decent regular season for the Oilers, where he picked up 36 wins in 59 games last year. He will likely look to improve on his .905 save % and his GAA of 2.62. He did have a solid playoff run however, where he had 14 wins and came within one game of hoisting the Stanley Cup.
