Shocking trade scenario in Toronto involving John Tavares emerges

John Taveres' name has appeared suddenly amongst franchise players in Toronto. They have made some great additions this offseason, but nothing that shakes the foundation as expected.

One fan on PuckPedia has a trade option that can actually make sense, at least for the Seattle Kracken.

It is an interesting scenario, Tavares is in his last year of his monster deal that was worth $77 million. And the Kracken are looking for someone who can bring that veteran experience to the team. It would also give them the opportunity to see if Tavares would work in Seattle before having to sign him to a shorter-term contract.

Tavares has expressed interest in re-signing with the Leafs, just like core four member Marner. Tavares also has a no-move clause in his contract that is not mentioned in all of this.

The Leafs would receive a sold third line center in Yanni Gourde and some depth with Jaden Schwartz as well as a 2025 second round pick.

Seattle should be able to cover the $11 million cap hit, so this deal could actually work for both sides if it comes true. Brad Treliving would have a lot of explaining to do though if this was something that came to be.
