Things got heated in Florida over the weekend as the Lightning hosted the Panthers. A line brawl broke out after Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov hit Lightning forward Conor Sheary in the head.

The chaos resulted in Kulikov being given a match misconduct penalty for illegal check to the head after the referees reviewed the play. This also resulted in a Panthers goal being waived off as the penalty occurred before the puck crossed the goal line.

After the game, the Department of Player Safety confirmed that Kulikov would be having a hearing for the play.
That hearing has unsurprisingly resulted in a suspension for the veteran blueliner. This is just the second suspension in Kulikov's career, the first since his rookie season, when he was suspended four games for a hit on Tyler Seguin.
It has now been confirmed that he will be suspended for two games.
