The Montreal Canadiens have built a solid young core around standout forward Cole Caufield, but away from the ice, he appears to be stirring plenty of drama.

Cole Caufield has made a name for himself as 'Goal Caufield' in Montreal since arriving, and while he's beloved by fans, his behavior off the ice has become a major concern in Montreal... for the media.
Away from the ice, there has been growing concern about Caufields behavior, specifically spending too much time at clubs of a night time, and after it became a major talking point for the media, BPM Sports' Renaud Lavoie has officially had enough.
«I apologize for the term, and I'll avoid swearing, but it's bullshit, it's complete bullshit.»

«Cole Caufield, to me, is a young hockey player who behaves like a professional. I've never seen Cole Caufield and thought he had a tough night the day before.»

«Even yesterday, Cole Caufield didn't participate in the morning practice, but he was (as usual) at the edge of the ice, with a smile, cheering on his teammates, attentive to what's happening on the ice, and with an exemplary attitude.»

«Come on! This witch hunt... Are you okay? The life of hockey players today, in 2024, is a lot more boring than it was 15-20 years ago.» - Renaud Lavoie

Lavoie emphasized during his rant how good of a teammate Caufield has been in Montreal, specifically revealing how locked in he is at practice with his fellow teammates, even if he's not skating for injury/maintenance purposes. Ultimately, this feels like the Canadian media once again going too far with their 24/7 coverage of their team and simply finding any way to criticize the team or a player.
In years gone by, players were allowed to have their downtime without the media following them all day, and even in this social media age, that should still be the case, so hopefully Canadiens media take note from this and let the young 23-year old live his life.
