The NHL is progressive in many different ways, but in some they aren't, and after a recent photo posted by Anthony Duclair, the league is under fire again.
This off-season, Anthony Duclair inked a very big deal with the New York Islanders, and with the young pairing of Bo Horvat and Mat Barzal on their top line, there's optimism in New York once more. Unfortunately, things may be taking a turn, as Duclair took to social media to post a photo of his dreadlocks that had been cut off, as he was forced to make the change under GM Lou Lamiorello's rules.
After years of the ridiculous rule about facial hair, unique numbers and long hair, some fans have had enough of Lamiorello's rules, taking to social media to call him out.
While some have pointed to race as the issue behind Duclair needing to get his hair cut, it has been a rule for a long time under the General Manager, with every single player needing to abide by his rules if they wish to play for the Islanders, but the visual of Duclair's hair has been circulating over social media since he posted it.
Ultimately, Lamiorello is 81-years of age, and his rules won't be changing anytime soon, so as much as the rule makes fans mad at times, in similar fashion to the New York Yankees, it's here to stay no matter the backlash to the situation involving the incredibly talented Duclair.
