The Pittsburgh Penguins landed Kyle Dubas quickly after his departure from Toronto, and now they've stolen a key member of the Maple Leafs front office.
While the core of the Toronto Maple Leafs has been in tact for some years now, in recent drafts they've managed to land some fantastic pieces for the future, with the likes of Matthew Knies and Easton Cowan providing hope for the present and the future. Now, the man behind the picks, Wes Clark, a key member of the Maple Leafs front office has officially departed the organization.
Word today that Wes Clark, big decision-maker at Toronto's draft table the last few years, is exiting the organization.
We will see where he ends up, but all eyes on Pittsburgh.
Moments after that revelation from Elliotte Friedman, the Penguins wasted no time in making it official, naming Clark the Vice President of Player Personnel.
The Penguins have named Wes Clark Vice President of Player Personnel.
Clark will oversee the club's amateur, professional and college/European free agent scouting departments and will report directly to Kyle Dubas.
With the 2024 NHL Draft already gone by, we likely won't see the impact of Clark's acquisition quickly, but over time, don't be shocked to see the Penguins draft quality go up as the potentially look to life after Sidney Crosby and the core that has won them three Stanley Cup's.
