On the latest edition of 32 Thoughts the Podcast, renowned NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman suggested that on his next deal, Crosby could get something in the range of $10-10.5 million from the Penguins on a three-year deal.
Despite being 36-years of age, Crosby has tallied 60 points in just 55 games this season, and after 93 a season ago, it's clear that the three-time Stanley Cup Champion has still got it, and could play until he's 40.
If he does take this payday, it's unclear where that would leave the Penguins, as they currently have a major lack of talent around him, and if he continues to get paid like that, the uncertainty around the rest of the roster would grow. Ultimately though, this is an NHL legend with 1,562 points under his belt in just 1,245 games played, and given what he's meant to the Penguins organization, absolutely nobody could blame Kyle Dubas and the front office if they go through with a deal like this.
