Corey Perry has had a whirlwind 2023-24 NHL season thus far, but it appears he may be drawing plenty of interest for a return to the league.
A rough start to the season for Perry
While Perry was solid on the ice for Chicago, away from it he was anything but, as the team had to terminate his contract following some unethical behaviour behind the scenes.
Some may have thought that would have ended his 2023-24 campaign completely, but after a recent meeting with Commissioner Gary Bettman, Perry has officially been cleared to return to action.
Now, there's plenty of speculation as to where the veteran forward could end up, and according to Elliotte Friedman, we may be able to rule out two massive Canadian markets.
"I just think one of the questions, is Perry going to want somewhere quieter? TOR is a loud market, I don't think that's going to work. EDM's a louder market, though I definitely believe they have interest. Are there going to be some teams in quieter situations?"
We saw this past summer that veteran Radko Gudas avoided Toronto purely due to how much attention the team draws in that market, and given Perry's behaviour off the ice, this comes as no surprise.
It's unclear whether or not the Maple Leafs would be interested in Perry, but regardless, given how much of a distraction he could be, we can seemingly cross them off the list of teams that could land the veteran.
