Sheldon Keefe Calls out his Team During Interview
In last night's preseason matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens, the Leafs had a 4-2 lead at one point. They wound up blowing it and losing 5-4 in overtime. While it is just a preseason game and doesn't count toward the regular season, it's still important to instil good habits even during training camp.
Keefe spoke up about his frustrations:
All things you'd like to think, whether it's preseason or not, that we're past a lot of that stuff and we weren't tonight.
He continued:
Preseason or not, if you have a lead, you have to take care of the game.
The Maple Leafs have had issues in the past when it comes to holding leads late in the game. It cost them numerous playoff series' and they thought they were past that but clearly they still have some work to do in that regard.
If the Leafs want to win the cup this year they will have to improve on holding leads and winning games in all situations. Sheldon Keefe knows that and will do whatever he can to steer them in that direction.
