The Toronto Maple Leafs summer has been busier than any other team in the NHL, and after winning a round last playoff run, they're clearly looking to build a team that can go a few steps further.
One down, one to go?
After some solid moves like the signing of Tyler Bertuzzi, Ryan Reaves, John Klingberg, Max Domi and others, the team then locked up their biggest star in Auston Matthews for a further four seasons after 2023-24.
All the while, there's been very little movement on a William Nylander extension, leaving some to believe a trade could be on the horizon, and recently, new Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving addressed the situation.
During a recent interview with The Athletic, Treliving was asked about his intentions with Nylander, and he kept it short and simple when referring to a potential extension.
That's next on the list.
This is a good sign for Leafs fans that have been dreading a trade of the 27-year old winger who has blossomed into a genuine star over the past few years, and now, if they can get a deal done before the season, there will be no excuses for a deep post-season run in the next few years.
