The reporter David Pagnotta linked St. Louis Blues defenseman Colton Parayko to the Toronto Maple Leafs in a recent report.
With the Maple Leafs looking to fill holes in their defensive unit this summer, and considering Treliving's taste in defensemen, 6'6", 230-pound Colton Parayko would be a great fit in Toronto.
Last season, he blocked 218 shots, the highest total in the NHL. He is currently under contract, with six seasons left at $6,500,000 a year.
The #LeafsForever are linked to #stlblues 6'6" defenseman Colton Parayko by David Pagnotta. Parayko led the NHL in blocked shots last year with 218 and averaged a career-high 23:51 TOI. He will be making $6.5m per year until he is 36.
The Maple Leafs seem to have a plan in place to finally be able to solve their defensive issues.
According to another report, they are thinking about using multiple entry-level contracts and deals at the League's minimum wage as they focus on the blue line.
It was also specified that the Leafs are apparently talking about moving forward Calle Jarnkrok to an Atlantic Division rival team:
Rumblings seem to support that the Leafs are willing to use multiple ELC and league minimum deals to fill out their forward group so they can finally fix the defensive issues.
At least one conversation has happened with an Atlantic rival about Calle Jarnkrok.
While other candidates such as Nikita Zadorov, Sean Walker, or Chris Tanev remain interesting, Treliving should absolutely consider Parayko to help the Leafs achieve their long-term plans.
Do you think the Toronto Maple Leafs should get Colton Parayko this summer?
