On X, an insider confirmed that the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Islanders are deep in talks for a major trade.

It's no secret that Brad Treliving is considering all his options to make his team better by the start of the next season.
Meanwhile, the Islanders are pursuing their quest for a top player.
Mitch Marner's name has been included in rumors many times, and he fits exactly what the New York Islanders are looking for: a talented forward who can contribute offensively.
His name was once again linked to Patrick Roy's team by an insider on X:
"#Isles and Leafs trade match? They are confirmed to be at least discussing a major trade."
The Islanders have many interesting assets that they could part with to get Marner, especially at the blue line. If there's one player that would make Leafs fans dream, it's Noah Dobson.
According to the same insider, the Leafs want a young player that would be tough for the Islanders to part with:
"As an Islanders fan, the Leafs want a relatively young piece that would hurt if Lou gave him up... either way, you gotta give up something (2-3 pieces) to help fulfill a big need🤷🏽‍♂️ #NHL"
Dobson, 24, is on his way to becoming one of the best defensemen in the NHL. Any team would want him, but the Islanders will surely want to keep him.
If the Leafs absolutely want him, it wouldn't be surprising if they had to send something else with Marner in return.
Do you think the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Islanders will complete a trade this summer?
