Patrick Kane may very well hit free agency this summer and one team that he will certainly consider is the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights certainly have their fair share of cap room difficulties, but Kane could come relatively cheap given his age. Furthermore, he has expressed a desire to play with a team that he thinks can win, and the Knights certainly have that going for them as they just won the Stanley Cup in 2023. Perhaps he would be willing to take a discount to play for a team of that caliber. SinBin Vegas writer Jason Pothier argues the Knights should target Kane in free agency.
With a few forwards undoubtably heading out in free agency, the Golden Knights could use the next Phil Kessel.

Could that player be... Pat Kane?
There is a good chance Vegas is interested in Kane anyways. He played rather well for the Red Wings last season, proving that he still has it after he had hip re-surfacing surgery. TSN reporter Cheryl Pounder noted that every team should be interested in him.
"There's a lot of places that you can look for Patrick Kane to go to and who wouldn't want to have him. Look at his pedigree. Three-time Stanley Cup champion and the list goes on and on. The veteran seasoning that he can bring to any roster." - Cheryl Pounder

Kane had 20 goals and 47 points in 50 games last season for the Red Wings. He was a key part of the team's offense, especially after Dylan Larkin went out of an injury. More often than not, he looked like the old Kane out there.
Patrick Kane's highlight reel with Detroit is pretty gross considering he only played 50 games lol
There were many teams linked to Kane last season as he considered his options coming off surgery. One of the those teams was the Dallas Stars. Given the loses of Joe Pavelski and Matt Duchene, Kane could be a good fit there as well.
Patrick Kane to the Dallas Stars was the rumour last November.

Do we see that rumour revisited during free agency this year?

Kane put up 20 goals, 27 assists, 15 powerplay points and 147 shots in 50 games with Detroit last season.

As such, the Golden Knights will certainly have a lot of competition when it comes to signing Kane. Perhaps a team with more cap space will squeeze Vegas out due to their very limited flexibility. Be sure to stay tuned over the summer, particularly around July 1st to see where Kane will sign.
