After reports of a connection to the Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks forward Filip Zadina has been linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs, confirmed agent Darren Ferris.

Filip Zadina has largely underperformed his expectations in the league. After being picked by the Detroit Red Wings 6th overall in the 2018 NHL Draft, he has only recorded 41 goals and 91 points in 262 games. He spent his last year in the league with the bottom-placing team, the San Jose Sharks.
After not getting a direct roster placement deal, he set out in the league for potential PTO deals. Only a couple of days ago, he was reportedly going to the Buffalo Sabres' camp to test if he was the right fit for the team.
However, his agent Darren Ferris informed Lance Lysowski of the Buffalo News that he will not move forward with a contract with the Sabres. Instead, Filip Zadina is close to finalizing a deal with one of three teams he has recently connected to: the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, or Colorado Avalanche.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly been looking for a player to fill in a left wing position, and Filip Zadina has the flexibility to play both sides, making him a viable option. Yet with his lack of production, it is hard to say whether or not he can tally enough goals to make a difference in the lineup. Regardless, the news of which team he will sign with has yet to be released, so we may remain uninformed on his impact indefinitely.
