The Toronto Maple Leafs brought in Head Coach Craig Berube this off-season, and now a former Maple Leaf Luke Schenn has weighed in on the hiring.
After another failed playoff run in 2024 for the Toronto Maple Leafs, they finally landed the big fish in Craig Berube, and it's safe to say that the fans and the organization were thrilled by the move. Now, former Maple Leafs defenseman Luke Schenn has weighed in on the hiring, and it will be music to the ears of Maple Leafs fans around the world.
»He's a great coach. He says it like it is, there's no sugar coating with him. He's what you want in a coach or, for me at least, personally. He's black and white, no grey area; you know where he stands all the time. If you're not playing well, he'll let you know. I think it's good, and it'll be good in that market as well.'
Schenn has echoed the sentiment of all that have been coached by Berube, describing him essentially as a hard nosed but fair coach, and if the players buy into his system, it could be the move that finally breaks a five decade long curse in Toronto. That may be getting ahead of ourselves, but from all accounts, Berube is the perfect coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs in their current situation.
There's still some big decisions to be made about the personnel on this roster, but if all that can be sorted, this may finally be the year for this incredibly talented Maple Leafs team.
