The upcoming summer will be defined by changes for the Toronto Maple Leafs but at least fans can rest easy tonight knowing their captain John Tavares is staying.

According to Pierre LeBrun of the Athletic, the Maple Leafs haven't spoken to Tavares' agent, Pat Brisson about a potential trade.
With a year left on his contract, Tavares name has joined Mitch Marner, in rumors from trade town. Tavares also has no interest in exercising his full no-trade clause if that were brought to the table.
Tavares scored 29 goals and had 65 points in 80 games last season and a team-leading 87 shots on the power play. While the 33 year-old is on the downside of his career, the veteran can still effectively provide for his boyhood team in a bottom six role.
LeBrun and Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet also reported that Mitch Marner's camp wants discussions of a trade to carry into next season, then talk before he officially hits free agency in July of 2025.
While it's unclear what'll happen there, one thing is confirmed. John Tavares is remaining in the Blue and White for as long as he pleases.
