The Toronto Maple Leafs have had a solid season thus far, and now they're looking to make a big move ahead of the trade deadline, but perhaps it may not be a defenseman that they chase after all.
Who will Toronto target at the trade deadline?
For months now, we've been hearing talk of the Maple Leafs adding a defenseman such as Chris Tanev, Alexandre Carrier, Matt Dumba, Noah Hanifin and so many others, and the link makes sense given their injuries and lack of star power on the blue line.
Beyond that, they've also been rumoured to be in the market for a goaltender, but one position we didn't expect them to add is forward. According to one insider however, that may be where a position that the team should address ahead of the March 8 trade deadline.
In his latest appearance, Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos believes that Toronto should be looking to add a forward instead, specifically mentioning Lawson Crouse of the Arizona Coyotes, who the team will meet on Wednesday.
Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos believes Coyotes forward Lawson Crouse is the ‘perfect fit' for the Leafs, noting his toughness and grit. He says the Leafs lack that and will need it come playoff time, especially against teams like Florida.
Thoughts??
Crouse would certainly add the toughness that this team has missed since the departure of Michael Bunting, but with the Coyotes potentially not looking to move on from him, it would be a tough call, but it certainly wouldn't be the worst move for Toronto if they could pull it off.
