Jospeh Woll and Anthony Stolarz disrespected by Athletic in newest rankings
The Athletic's recent article didn't treat the Toronto Maple Leafs' goaltending duo of Joseph Woll Anthony Stolarz kindly, placing them near the bottom of the league at 25th overall.
That's such a homer ranking for the Leafs. We're you hanging with Snoop Dog when you came up with that?
The Leafs are banking on the potential Woll has shown in his limited time as stopper of the in blue and white, while many hope that Stolarz's steadiness and veteran experience will provide enough support.
Considering the promising rookie season for Joseph Woll and the impressive numbers Anthony Stolarz has put up as a backup, there's a clear path for the Maple Leafs to rise up this ranking in a hurry. Neither has proven he can be a true No. 1 starter in the NHL, so for now the Leafs sit firmly behind the teams with one.

Regarding the future, fans and the organization are confident in Dennis Hildeby and Artur Akhtyamov, but the Leafs' prospects are ranked 23rd.
Dennis Hildeby's development in two seasons in the SHL and AHL since the Leafs selected him in 2022 has been really positive, and he's now solidly their No. 4 goalie behind Woll, Stolarz, and Matt Murray. Both of their signed Russians have shown some promise. I'm much higher on Artur Akhtyamov, who is coming to North America this season, than Vyacheslav Peksa, who was a rookie in North America last season. Akhtyamov is a name Leafs fans should get familiar with.
However, despite what you think it's important to note rankings can change quickly, and Leafs fans remain optimistic about their goaltending future.
