The Toronto Maple Leafs have dealt with a lot of injuries this season. Unfortunately for them, they got some more bad news on that front today.

Keefe Reveals Marner Injury Is More Serious That Initially Reported

Marner last played with the Leafs on the 7th when the team lost 4-1 to the Buffalo Sabres. Notably, Marner scored the only goal for the Leafs in that game. Since then, he's been out out the lineup as he deals with a high-ankle sprain. Initially, it was reported that this was a day-to-day injury, but now Sheldon Keefe says he will miss more time than that.
Is Mitch Marner's injury still considered a day-to-day thing?

Sheldon Keefe: "It's more than that at this point. He won't skate tomorrow & then we have a day off so a couple days for him to settle & sort of ramp it back up for next week"
This is a major concern for the Leafs as their forward group is extremely top heavy. Without Marner, the team is missing a significant part of their offense.

Medical Doctor Gives Opinion On Marner Injury

Doctor Ali Rendely did some research and gave her opinion on Marner's status, giving fans an idea of how long Marner could be out. She discovered that players with this kind of injury have a wide range of recovery times, ranging from 0-65 days. While it seems like Marner will be on the lower end of that spectrum, this is still concerning news for the Leafs as he could be set to miss several more games during the most important part of the regular season.
Spoke to @kevin_mcgran about Marner's ankle injury

Return from high ankle sprains in the NHL is highly variable with a median of 8 games missed (range, 0-65 games)
Theoretically, this injury could even take him out until the playoffs, if not longer. As such, the team will have to be very careful with his recovery as they won't want him to reaggravate it. Be sure to stay tuned to see when Marner might return to the lineup.
