The NHL announced a new docuseries will be released next month and the first episode will include the infamous interaction between Mitch Marner and William Nylander from the playoffs last season.

The NHL released the trailer for a brand-new docuseries called "Faceoff" today. The show is coming to Prime video on October 4th and features behind-the-scenes footage from around the NHL, including the Toronto Maple Leafs. Notably, Leafs forward William Nylander is featured prominently in the trailer, including his infamous interaction with Mitch Marner from the playoffs last season.

NHL insider David Pagnotta got ahold of the release schedule, revealing that this will be a six-part series featuring star players from around the league. The first episode features Nylander as well as Bruins star David Pastrnak. One would imagine that the episode will primarily focus on the playoff series between the Leafs and Bruins that went seven games last year. Later episodes feature players including Connor McDavid, Matthew Tkachuk, and Jack Eichel.

Nylander Joked that he thought the first episode of the series was great, but he did not like how it ended. Of course, the Leafs ultimately lost that series in overtime of game seven with David Pastrnak scoring the series clinching goal.

The trailer also featured a clip from the Oilers locker room during the Stanley Cup finals. Connor McDavid appeared to be shouting at one of his teammates, possibly Zach Hyman, but the message was for the entire team as he told them their effort was not good enough. For a player that has been criticized for his lack of emotion, this certainly comes across as a very emotional and passionate moment.

The entire trailer can be seen in the post below. At just under two minutes long, it packs a punch with some of the best highlights from the series. It certainly does a good job of creating hype for the product.

NHL insider Mark Lazerus has also created some hype for the series. He speaks as though he has already seen at least the first episode, which makes since given his role in the league and he seems to think it will be a smashing success.

be sure to tune in on October 4th to see the debut of the series for yourself.
