The Toronto Maple Leafs have big moves to make this summer, and if they do indeed deal Mitch Marner, they've got a star replacement in mind.
It's been a deal talked about ever since the Maple Leafs fell in round one to the Boston Bruins, and now insider Frank Seravalli sees it almost as a guarantee that the Maple Leafs do force Mitch Marner into a trade situation.
Now, the Maple Leafs plan has been revealed for the possibility that Marner does accept a trade, with Seravalli revealing that they would attempt to use that salary cap space to land veteran Jake Guentzel.
They wouldn't be the only team interested however, as the Rangers, Panthers, Canucks and other playoff teams are ready to land the former Penguins star, but if Toronto could move Marner for future pieces and land a Stanley Cup winner in Guentzel, the off-season would be a major success.
