The animosity between the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs is in full force as Toronto's Fraser Minten was forced to leave the game after a nasty crosscheck by Montreal's David Reinbacher.
The incident occurred when Minten was chasing the puck in the corner and turned to face the boards, when Reinbacher came skating in and put a brutal crosscheck along the nameplate of Minten's jersey.
Minten was slow to get up from the play and did not line up on the penalty kill with Easton Cowan towards the end of the frame. Later on, it was reported by Eric Engels; senior columnist at Sportsnet, that Minten was not returning to the game for precautionary reasons and was confirmed by Nick Barden of The Hockey News.
Minten was seen favoring his left foot according to Barden, and with Minten's road to the team a little more clearer than others, the Leafs can afford to keep him out for safety.
