The Toronto Maple Leafs and GM Brad Treliving have announced that Marc Savard is joining the team as an assistant coach, completing head coach Craig Berube's staff for the upcoming season.

Savard comes to Toronto after a season as an assistant coach with the Calgary Flames. Before that, he was the head coach of the OHL's Windsor Spitfires for two years, where he was 88-35-8-5, which included an OHL Finals appearance in 2022.
Starting his coaching career with the St. Louis Blues in 2019-20, Savard has built a solid reputation behind the bench. As a player, he appeared in 807 regular season games and 25 playoff contests with the New York Rangers, Calgary Flames, Atlanta Thrashers, and Boston Bruins, racking up 207 goals and 706 points. He was a two time NHL All-Star appearances and won a Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011.
Originally drafted by the New York Rangers in 1995, Savard brings a wealth of experience and a winning mentality to the Leafs nation. He knows how to handle the pressure of original six environments.
