Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe made a bold decision today as he made veteran defenseman TJ Brodie a healthy scratch for the team's matchup against the Washington Capitals.
Keefe Scratches Veteran Defenseman After Lose To Flyers
The move comes after a disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. Sheldon Keefe clearly was not satisfied with Brodie's performance in that game as he is typically a staple on the Leaf's blueline.
TJ Brodie will be a healthy scratch tonight as Conor Timmins comes in. Ryan Reaves has an eye injury and Noah Gregor will also play in his place.
Brodie has rarely missed games for any reason in his tenure with the Leafs so far. Furthermore, he has regularly played a big role for the club, averaging nearly 22 minutes a game over his four-years with the team. That being said, the 33-year-old has seen a decline in the quality of his play this season, leading many fans to winder why he hadn't been a scratch earlier.
FINALLY TJ Brodie is healthy scratched for tonight's game in Washington, hopefully the message is sent cause he's been a liability out there this year and he MUST improve (if it's even possible) #LeafsForever
Be sure to tune in tonight as the Leafs take on the Capitals in a game that could have playoff implications for both teams.
